AM Position: 7:45-1:15 M-TH and 7:45-10:45 F. (21 hours/week)
Scope of WorkUnder the supervision of the school Special Education Department, Social Worker, and administration, provide academic and behavioral support for a student with special needs.
$500 hiring bonus payable after 1 month of employment
- Engaging individual and small groups of learners in instructional activities.
- Helping to facilitate the inclusion of children and youth with disabilities in to general education classrooms and programs.
- Carrying out behavior management and disciplinary plans developed by IEP team.
- Documenting information that enables the general education teacher and/or Special Education Director to plan or modify lessons and adapt instructional methods to accommodate the learning and language needs of individual children and youth
- Assisting general education teacher and/or Special Education Director with functional assessment activities
- Assisting general education teacher and/or Special Education Director with maintaining inclusive learner-centered environments that respect the human rights, cultures, religions, and lifestyles of students and their families and of staff members
- Assisting general education teacher and/or Special Education Director with carrying out district/school policies that protect the safety, health, well-being of students and staff members and their learning environments
- Assisting general education teachers and/or Special Education Directors with involving families in their child’s education
- Performing clerical and monitoring tasks assigned by the teacher (e.g. inventorying supplies, preparing instructional materials)
- Attend and take notes for monthly SpEd Professional developments in person or on the phone
- Attend and take notes for weekly SpEd departmental meetings.
